Dinner at Sweet Vettes Desserts – April Twenty-Ten

0

Sweet Vettes splashed into spring with salads, salads, and more salads at this month’s event.  Those signature mouth watering desserts were also served including hot out of the oven sweet potato pie and mouth watering apple pie served with New York vanilla ice cream.   A wonderful crowd was in the house.

On the menu was turkey salad with grapes and rotini.  This was definitely a hit.  There was a potato salad and a toss salad.  The healthy toss salad included spinach leaves, cukes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, radishes, craisins, and pickles with a French/balsamic vinaigrette blend dressing.  The salads were served on a bed of lettuce with a peach skirt.  A variety of crackers were served including Monet vegetable entertainer crackers, garden veggie crackers and chicken flavored crackers.

The fourth salad was a combination of a cake and a fruit salad with a few other ingredients.  I rarely cook from recipes.  However this dessert was eye pleasing so I had to try out this recipe.  I began by baking a vanilla cake and once cooled, I cut the cake to fit the bottom of the deep, clear, glass bowl and gently placed it in.  Half cut strawberries were then placed on the edge of the cake fanning the sides of the bowl and spaced 2 inches apart.  Cantaloupe, grapes and additional strawberries were added.  I made a quick homemade custard and poured over the first layer of fruit.  A second layer of everything was applied.  Cool whip was spread over the second layer.  Lastly, I topped this dessert with large strawberries covering three quarters of the top and placed in the refrigerator to chill for 2 ½ hours.  This eye pleasing dessert was almost too beautiful to dig into.

When dinner was ready, the mingling headed to the kitchen.  Comments were made about how tasty the salads and desserts looked.  Plates were served with those mouth watering desserts ready to go down.

Creativity is something I must keep mindful in order to sustain Dinners at Sweet Vettes.  Any successful endeavor must have an arm of creativity so this month door prizes were introduced at Dinners at Sweet Vettes table.  Two Louisiana banana puddings were given at April’s event.  This excited those in attendance.  Upon arrival each person’s name is entered into a drawing with a 1 in 3 chance of leaving with one of those hot out of the oven signature desserts.

This month’s event was successful with four new people coming out in support and two of them names were drawn as winners of the door prizes.  Dinner at Sweet Vettes table isn’t just a delicious meal with down home mouth watering desserts, this monthly event provides a wide array of positive energy, sharing and networking over a delicious meal with multiple signature desserts.  Another benefit of Dinner at Sweet Vettes is gaining knowledge that will strengthen the sisterhood of beautiful, business minded women.  Through these events you’ll find inspiration and become aware of your inner voice leading you to your passion and dreams.  The serious networking which occurred this month proved just that.  The event was very warm and welcoming to all.   A real plus at Dinner at Sweet Vettes this month was having four new women who came out in support for the very first time.
