Camphor Annual Chili Luncheon and Craft Show – November 2011
On Saturday, November 5, 2011, the United Methodist Women of Camphor UM Church sponsored their Annual ChiliLuncheon and Craft Show. It was held from 9:00am – 3:00pm at 585 Fuller in St. Paul.
The chili was $5 for all you could eat. An absolutely unbeatable price considering you could go back as many times as your heart desired. I put down 2 bowls and could barely made it back to my booth. I like to combine a number of chili recipes for a real delicious bowl. One word sums it up “YUM”.
Many, many varieties of chili were on the counter for your enjoyment from vegetarian chili, traditional chili, extra spicy chili and others. All the fixings were available from sour cream, cheese, crackers, chips and scoops. It was all good.
In the morning, vendors situated their best products for, display. Items ranged from baked goods, decorated pretzels, handmade crochet items, handmade earrings, scarves, greeting cards and the likes.
Sweet Vette’s Desserts displayed hot out-of-the-oven banana, nut breads, mouth watering Louisiana banana pudding, delicious peach cobblers, apple pie, down home sweet potato pies and pound cake. While there are whole pies for sale along with cobblers and cakes, items are also sold by the slice.
Prices are reasonable and they are delicious. One lady came by 4 times for Sweet Vette’s pound cake. She said it was the best pound cake ever. When a customer returns for a third time to support Sweet Vette’s
Desserts, I always give those customers something for free. In Louisiana they call it “lagniappe” meaning giving a little bit extra.
The vendors and shoppers really had a great time at this annual event. Sweet Vette’s Desserts sold out of every product prior to the end of the day. I had an order list on hand for those who missed out or wanted
more. I received quite a few orders, some to be picked up later the same evening. Shoppers were very pleasant and looked forward to the next time.
Thanks for your support.
