On Sunday, May 2^nd, dinner will be prepared for Sweet Vettes nieces and nephews.  The meal is not the focus.  However, I could not pass up this opportunity to show some love while we travel back in days past.  I couldn’t just have my nieces and nephews over just for photos and laughs, I had to “hook em” up. 

This gathering is more about hanging out with Auntie Vette and the meal just happen to be part of getting together for old time sake as we go through family photos.  When you hear names like Boosie, Ju, Ka, ProPro, Beanbie, AC, Koolaid, Punch, Juice and Auntie Kool School, you long for these days once more.  Now-a-daze we have Shooba in the house along with Morris, Caleb, Gab, Desi, Ameen, Lil Ameenah and Baby AC.

Coming to hang out with Auntie Vette and looking at family photos from long ago will yield a ton of unforgettable memories.  Auntie Vette has always been the picture buff in the family.  I have photos that other family members didn’t even know existed.  When the nieces and nephews were coming up, our family used to have the best times almost every holiday, however that’s no longer the case.

On the menu will be a golden brown turkey, homemade dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, toss salad, greens and neck bones, homemade cheese and macaroni and potato salad.  Auntie Vettes desserts includes a banana pudding, raspberry dumplings, sweet potato pie and cake/fruit dessert.  Also served will be a splashy punch that the family always enjoyed.

The number expected at dinner at Auntie Vette’s is climbing but currently we are at an 18 count.  I’m looking forward to this wonderful opportunity to hang with the young n’s over a wonderful meal.
